The Heart Is The Bright Side

5″ x 7″ x 1″

plexiglass, copper piping, glass, limited edition photo print, epoxy, resin

This piece of artwork is one of my personal favorites, because my beloved niece inspired its creation. One day, wandering around downtown Atlanta and photographing dilapidated houses. and piles of refuge, I caught sight of a locked gate in the shape of a heart – immediately, her face sprang to mind.

We all (at least, I hope so; we all deserve such a light) have that person in our lives who reminds us with the most unintentional gestures, passing statements, and general being that not all is darkness.

My niece is one of those rare humans who blesses my life with her presence. This photograph will always remind me of her – in the midst of chaos and rubbish, there is a (barely) hidden heart full of light, and shining love…if only we have someone to remind us where to look.
